# browser image editing notes

Opening a browser image editor: first load, saving and a safe exit

## Opening a browser image editor: first load, saving and a safe exit

These notes cover two independently maintained websites: PhotoCraft.design ([https://photocraft.design/](https://photocraft.design/?utm_source=gitbook\&utm_medium=referral\&utm_campaign=launch_202610)) and AI Photoshop Clone ([https://aiphotoshopclone.com/](https://aiphotoshopclone.com/?utm_source=gitbook\&utm_medium=referral\&utm_campaign=launch_202610)). Both host the same PhotoCraft v0.8.2 release by the ArtCraft team and contributors. Upstream source: <https://github.com/storytold/photocraft>. Our work is the websites, hosting, navigation and guides, rather than development of the editor engine.

### Before opening the editor

Keep the original image or project in a separate local folder. Choose a small, disposable test image for the first session. If your work depends on PSD features, test a copy of a representative PSD before committing to this editor. The current release is early alpha and compatibility is limited.

### What happens after Open Editor

The website opens a browser workspace. The first launch downloads about 11 MB of compressed application files, including WebAssembly. That download comes from the hosting website's own domain; loading it does not require downloading the application from GitHub during each session. Network speed, distance from a cached server copy and browser conditions affect the wait. The amount transferred is not a reliable estimate of how long every visitor will wait.

Later visits may reuse a browser-cached copy, but caching is not permanent storage. Clearing browser data, switching browsers or an application update can require a new download. Keep the editor tab open while initialization completes. A visible landing page is not yet proof that the editing workspace is ready.

### A small first-session check

Open the test image and add a text layer. Save an editable working copy using the editor's available save controls, then export a separate image for delivery. Reopen both outputs and check what actually survived: dimensions, text, layer structure and visual appearance. A flattened export is useful for sharing, but cannot substitute for a working project when you need to edit layers later.

### Before closing the tab

Save the current working copy and a separate delivery image. Confirm that the downloads finished and that you can locate the files. Reopen the working copy if a feature is important to the project. Do not rely on the browser cache to restore unsaved editing work.

### Known boundaries

This deployment currently provides no generative AI, connected assistant, autosave or crash recovery. The AI Photoshop Clone domain name does not mean an AI service is enabled, and it is not affiliated with Adobe. These two websites are alternate entry points to the same upstream release; switching sites does not provide a different compatibility engine.
